Hiring Process |
The ºìÁì½í¿ì±¨ recognizes the value of attracting, recruiting, and retaining our valuable staff. We are committed to creating and sustaining an ethical, inclusive, caring, and safe work environment through recruitment and promotion practices that are equitable, transparent and support the Board’s Strategic Plan. The ºìÁì½í¿ì±¨ is committed to recruiting and promoting candidates based on qualifications, experiences and the demonstration of values which align with the Board’s mission and vision. The ºìÁì½í¿ì±¨â€™s Recruitment Strategy is committed to creating a diverse pool of applicants by exploring programs that help attract candidates from traditionally disadvantaged groups (i.e. Indigenous peoples and those from equity-seeking groups). The Board will do this through job posting advertisements, social media, and via community networks and associations. Career Opportunities will be posted on the external website under the Careers section. The job postings include qualifications, duties, nature and scope of the job, start and end dates, salary and an equity, diversity and accommodation statement. The equity, diversity and accommodation statement encourages applications from equity-seeking groups and ensures that job applicants understand that accommodations will be provided based on any human rights protected ground. If hired into a position with the ºìÁì½í¿ì±¨, new hires will be required to provide a Police Records Check, a signed copy of the ºìÁì½í¿ì±¨ Confidentiality Agreement, and agree to the terms and conditions outlined as an employee of the ºìÁì½í¿ì±¨. |
Police Vulnerable Sector Check |
As a condition of employment with ºìÁì½í¿ì±¨, all successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory police record check. In addition to the satisfactory police record check one may be required to obtain a police record check that includes a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC). This check is required where an individual is in a position of trust or authority over vulnerable persons, including students. Prospective employees may not commence employment until the appropriate police screening documentation is received by the Human Resources Department. Costs incurred in obtaining the PVSC is the responsibility of the candidate. The Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) can be completed through the candidate's local police jurisdiction. The Board will accept satisfactory PVSC’s that name another school board and other employers (i.e. daycare centres, OCT, and employers that would require a police check for vulnerable persons) in Ontario and obtained within the last six (6) months. |
The ºìÁì½í¿ì±¨'s Recruitment Strategy is committed to creating and maintaining diversity in our workforce where students see themselves reflected in the staff's population.
